The Nigerian Institute of Transport Technology (NITT) is a parastatal of the Federal Ministry of Transportation, and a leading training, research and manpower development Institute in all modes of Transport & Logistics Industry in Nigeria and the West African Sub-region. For over three decades, the Institute has been in the vanguard of transport and logistics education in Nigeria, serving both the public and private sectors of the economy as training providers and consultants in various transport and logistics issues. Similarly, the Institute is saddled with the responsibility of leading the advancement, application, adaptation and domestication of transport technologies in Nigeria as mandated by the Institute’s Act (CAP LFN 116, 2004) “to provide equipment and facilities for the encouragement, promotion and conduct of research in all modes of transport and logistics and to drive innovations through development of new technologies to meet the demands of the transport and logistics Industry’’

In view of the above and the current energy challenges, the Institute’s is set for the provision of Technical Manpower Skill and Conversion Facilities across the country for the development and promotion of Autogas (CNG/LPG) systems. This is perceived as the catalyst to the mass adoption of Autogas (CNG/LPG) in the country. The Institute has already commissioned two centers (Abuja and Zaria) out of its nine (9) already established conversion Centres in nine (9) States of the Federation including the FCT with more than twenty (20) successful conversions. Hence the institute has the capabilities and competence to engage in this exercise.

The Institute is quite determined to achieve this revolutionary project within the stipulated timeline with the support and collaboration of all necessary stakeholders, national and international, particularly Presidential CNG initiative (P-CNGi)

The Institute is also working hard to establish a center in each of the 36 States within the next six (6) month, 109 center across the Senatorial Zones in the next one year and subsequently, in each of the 774 Local Government Area before the end of 2025. The Institute has secured approval of land in some of the States, with others to follow, for the purpose developing and deploying the conversion and training centres.
